You have to start somewhere, and a private six-pack charter is a much better place to start than on your own or on a large party boat. Frankly speaking, going fishing on one of the large party boats with 45 other people standing shoulder to shoulder on a Tuna stop can be a bit intimidating, for even veteran anglers.  If you are a youth angler or have little or no experience with fishing, we have a solution for you! 

When you come fishing on one of our vessels, the biggest difference is the number of people (maximum SIX) and the number of deckhands (TWO). This is a much better ratio than on the large party boats, and this means that we have time to spend with you one on one to make sure your first few fishing trips are a success.

Let’s go over some of the kinds of help you will get from our friendly and knowledgable crew:

1. How to tie a hook on.

2. How to put your bait on the hook properly.

3. How to work with the drag and to engage and disengage the reel for casting.

4. How to keep your thumb on the line to avoid tangles.

5. How to know when you hit the bottom.

6. How to know when you have a bite.

7. How to reel the fish in and get it on the boat.

8. After the fishing is done, we will show you how to clean your fish or do it for you.

In other words, white-glove service! Our Captain will also invite you up to the bridge to get a birds-eye view all around, and how to look for fish using the birds, water temperature, bait balls, dolphin schools, kelp patties, bottom structure, and many other great fishing tips.

We have several boats to choose from, which can take 2, 4, or 6 passengers to many of the local spots. During the winter season, we mostly focus on rockfish, rock cod, lingcod, and calico bass. During the summer months, we focus more on Tuna and other Pelagic species such as Tuna. 

Some of our favorite spots for beginners include the Kelp Beds just outside of Point Loma, San Diego Bay, The Nine Mile Bank, and La Jolla and the Coronado Islands (Passport required). All of these locations are close to shore and have a shorter trip time than all of our other offers. This will allow you to go out and get your sea legs, without overdoing it.
